Come Get to Know Me!

Biography

I help faith-driven women who struggle with food and body image issues reduce their anxiety and disordered behaviors so that they can confidently restore their health and ditch food rules forever.

Unlike other approaches that only focus on food-related behaviors, I help my clients replace negative beliefs with spiritual truth to discover their God-given identity without their eating disorder.

Brittany is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) who has a passion for helping women of all ages discover their God-given worth and value.  She believes that a person’s identity cannot be based on his or her appearance or abilities, but can only be found in the Lord.  She is a non-diet dietitian who approaches nutrition and wellness from a holistic standpoint, focusing on four main areas of health, including: physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional.

Her faith in the Lord and the freedom that she has experienced herself from spiritual bondage has given her the desire to serve those who struggle with disordered eating and negative self-image.  Brittany strives to make each of her clients know that their voice is being heard and that it matters.  She is passionate about serving her clients and helping them establish a healthy relationship with food and body in order to improve their quality of life and walk free and fearlessly in their purpose.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…”

--Gal. 5:1

With her specialized education and experience in the field of eating disorders, Brittany uses a weight-inclusive, all-foods-fit approach to help her clients understand and apply the principles of Intuitive Eating while providing trauma-informed care.  She believes that food is meant to be enjoyed and that movement should never be used as a means of self-harm or punishment.

Brittany works with each of her clients to help close the gap between where they are in their health journey and where they strive to be.  In addition to outpatient counseling and coaching, Brittany has treated eating disorder clients at the inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization levels of care.

She is married to the love of her life and has two sweet babies under the age of 3… meaning she’s also a lover of all things coffee ;)  Brittany has two dogs - a chocolate lab/Australian shepherd mix, and a Boston Terrier mix, both of whom are adopted rescue dogs.  Brittany is a Texas native raised in Alabama and is PROUD to call herself an Auburn Tiger!  Waaaaaaaar eagle, HEY!  In her free time, Brittany loves being outdoors, watching movies, and baking.  She even considered going to pastry school and opening her own specialty cake shop.

Brittany earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech.  She specializes in disordered eating/eating disorders with co-occurring mental health diagnoses while also having extensive experience in medical nutrition therapy (MNT), motivational interviewing and behavioral change, and higher education.

Brittany is currently in the process of obtaining a board certification in the treatment of eating disorders (CEDRD) and is a member of the following professional organizations: The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) and Behavioral Health Nutrition (BHN) dietetic practice groups; The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP); and the Alabama Chapter of IAEDP.

My Practice Philosophy

I practice from a weight-neutral, all-foods-fit standpoint and believe that every BODY is different and deserves individualized care.  No one meal plan or magic combination of food is going to cure an unhealthy relationship with food or personal body image.  I provide trauma-informed care and have extensive experience working with clients experiencing a variety of co-occurring mental health conditions including but not limited to anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, body dysmorphic disorder, ADHD, and others.

One of the reasons I am passionate about working with clients with disordered eating and negative body image is that I love getting to know the whole person, not just a diagnosis.  I have a chance to get to know my clients well, which helps me to provide better coaching, both nutritionally and therapeutically.  I believe this affords me the greatest opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on each of my clients in their life and recovery.

My approach with clients is to get to know them on a personal level, understand what is important to them and how I can help them see how their priorities are impacted by their nutritional, physiological, and psychological health and wellbeing.  I want to help them see that all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle and be enjoyed.  Something that is also really important to me personally as I provide nutrition coaching is to reach my clients on a spiritual level.

I have a strong belief that my faith and trust in the Lord helps me to have a greater level of discernment so that I can better meet each client where she is in her struggles.  It also helps me to connect to them on a deeper level and allows me an opportunity to minister to each one individually.

Why I Do What I Do

Freedom is something every person deserves to experience, and I know first hand what it feels like to feel burdened by something you feel you have no control over, but...

I also know what it’s like to experience that freedom for the first time.  Emotional and spiritual bondage come in many forms, but when you finally decide to let go of your fear and release complete control over to the Lord, you’ll experience true and everlasting freedom.

My Hope

My true hope for each and every one of my clients is that I get to come alongside you to help you identify where you currently are in your health and wellness journey and where you want to be, then coach you as we close that gap together.
